Dreams are made of. . .

Dreaming of fluttering eyelashes & layers of chiffon; of delicate beading & bejeweled skirts; of muted pastels & flowing trains; of cinched waists & feminine ponytails. . .

Since first laying eyes on Mr Elie Saab's Spring 2012 Couture Collection, can not stop thinking of every delicate, flowing, intricate piece in the collection. . . Have been a fan of Elie for as long as I can remember & every collection simply sweeps me off my feet-- the lace, the layers, the embellishment-- 'tis all far too dreamy for words. . .

I hope everything is wonderful where you are. . .

Golden

Believe it is high time I invest in some gold flatware. . . To make breakfast's brighter, lunch's far more sparkly & dinnertime's a very glamorous affair. . .

Wedding Love: Romance is in the air. . .

With a darling friend who has very recently become engaged, can think of nothing but dress fittings & bridal showers; overflowing centerpieces & something blue; ruffles of tulle & of chiffon & of lace; calligraphy & letterpress & gold rimmed pages. . .  So much romance in the air & so much excitement to be felt-- very soon will be jet-setting off to visit my friend & simply cannot wait!

Praia Piquinia

Praia Piquinia-- numerous photographs taken by Christian Chaize of the same secluded beachfront in Portugal. Each day taken from the same position & always different are the sunbathers, weather, ocean waves & the array of colourful towels & umbrellas.
Would adore a collection of these beautiful prints to keep summer in my house all year round. . .

Almost that time. . .

Is almost that time for whispering sweet nothings & secret love notes.

Is almost that time candlelit dinners & romantic breakfasts in bed.

Is almost that time to pull out your prettiest jewels & your dress all layers of tulle.

Is almost that time for bunches of gushing pink peonies & small boxes wrapped in ribbon.

Is almost that time for sheer lingerie & spritzes of favourite perfume.

Is almost that time to show the one you love, just how much you love them. . .

Illustrator Love. . .

Have been following the wonderfully talented Kelly Smith of Birdy & Me for some time & am excited to have ordered my very first piece. . .

Kelly Smith is a freelance Illustrator, based in Tasmania. In 2006 she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Tasmanian School of Art & went on to pursue a career in portrait & fashion illustration. Kelly has illustrated many pieces for numerous large corporate clients & magazines.
The incredible detail she manages to work into each illustration is simply breathtaking-- every piece has an ethereal, other-worldly element-- yet is still remarkably lifelike.
Am now eagerly anticipating receiving the piece in the mail-- have already decided the very perfect spot to hang it!

Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon-- I hope it is lovely where you are. . .

The lost art of travel. . .

In a bygone era, travel was an experience in luxury & opulence. No detail overlooked, no indulgence spared. Women dressed in furs, wore gloves & were impeccably 'finished'. Gentlemen wore a jacket & pocket square, donned a hat & displayed chivalry.

Whether by boat, train or later, air-- travel was an event one looked forward to in this hopelessly romantic era.

Have always believed it is important to be properly dressed, looking your best whilst in public & would love to have lived in a time where this was a priority for all.

And so, has always been a dream of mine to travel on the Orient Express, or take a journey on an opulent cruise ship, such as the Queen Mary II. To wear evening gowns to dinner, or gloves to cocktail hour. To not be out of place with hair done up & a pout of velvety red lipstick.

Dream of gilding & luxurious draping; of custom, matching luggage & waiters in impeccably tailored uniforms; of ornate moldings & chandeliers hanging in grand ballrooms.

In 2012, plan to dress up for the every day; appreciate the journey; always present myself with poise & grace & brush up on etiquette & decorum-- in the hopes to live a little more glamorously, as those from a bygone era. . .
